A running brand that builds safety shoes
New Balance has been making performance footwear for over 100 years. Their industrial range isn't a boot brand trying to make trainers. It takes what New Balance has learned from running and training shoes and adds the safety features: composite toe caps, anti-perforation midsoles and slip-resistant outsoles.
So you get a shoe that looks and feels like a trainer, with an EN ISO 20345:2022 safety rating behind it.

What's the difference between S1 PL and S3L?
Both protect the toes to 200 joules and have an anti-static, energy-absorbing heel, plus a non-metal anti-perforation midsole. S3L also adds a water-resistant upper and a cleated outsole, so it suits outdoor and wet work better. Elite Lite is rated S1 PL. Fresh Foam Cremorne and Calibre are rated S3L.
Do they have steel toe caps?
Not the styles we stock so far. Elite Lite, Fresh Foam Cremorne and Calibre all use a composite toe cap and a non-metal anti-perforation midsole. Check each product page as new styles arrive. New Balance lists Elite Lite and Calibre as airport friendly.
Which styles are ESD?
Elite Lite and Fresh Foam Cremorne (including BOA and Mid) are ESD rated, which means they dissipate static in a controlled way. That matters in electronics work and other static-sensitive areas. Calibre is anti-static but not ESD rated.
How do they fit?
Fresh Foam Cremorne is built on a wide 2E fit. Calibre comes in 2E and 4E widths. Elite Lite is a standard D fit for men and B for the women's version. Check each product for the sizes we have in stock.
Are there women's styles?
Yes. Elite Lite and Fresh Foam Cremorne both come in women's versions, and Elite Lite Women's is designed specifically for a woman's foot.
What is Fresh Foam?
Fresh Foam is New Balance's cushioned running midsole. In the Cremorne range it gives the support, cushioning and flexibility of a running shoe, combined with a composite toe and a slip and heat resistant outsole.
